about

The first covid wave in the spring of 2020 was particularly challenging for me and my family. That said, being locked down in our 3rd floor Brooklyn apartment with no means of travel for months on end forced me to shift my focus inward and to my music production which resulted in tremendous growth and such releases as “Joy” and “Meditations 1-6”. Part of this time was also spent studying music production for film and TV (“sync licensing”), during which I signed with 2 music libraries, and “Collections From the First Wave” is the result.

I was at first hesitant to release these tracks given the stylistic differences with my typical ambient/idm/experimental approaches. That said, these songs hold a special place in my heart with some even bringing me to blissful tears at times given the peak emotional energy that flowered out of such a challenging time. I am thus called to share “Collections From the First Wave” with the world, in all their Film/TV production music glory. Get ready for lots of piano, strings and acoustic guitar, but also a healthy dose of synths and electronic drums mixed in, short/2-minute “cues” with “button endings” as well as silly/catchy song titles designed to capture the attention of music supervisors while also conveying the emotional content.

Music for Film and TV tends to be less “up front” since it typically serves to support the production content, though I soon found I had little interest in writing “background music”, even in this context. This is why I used to joke with other producers that my cues were “theme songs or bust”!

I hope you enjoy listening to these tracks as much as I do.
